Considerations made during the design and fabrication of a single acting cylinder is as follows:  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Functionality of the design <\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sendhamarai.com\">Manufacturability <\/a><\/li><li>Economic availability. i.e. General cost of material and fabrication techniques employed<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Hydraulic cylinder: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The hydraulic cylinder is\nmounted in inclined position. The total load acting on the cylinder consists\nof: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Mass to be put on lift : 500 kg Taking FOS = 1.5 for mass in pallet 500 x 1.5 = 750 kg rounding the mass to 800kg <\/li><li> Mass of top frame= 22.5 kg <\/li><li> Mass of each link:5kg(5*8)=40kg <\/li><li> Mass of links of cylinder mounting=4kg <\/li><li> Mass of cylinder=8.150kg  <\/li><li>Total Mass : 22.5+40+8.150+4+800 = 874.65 kg <\/li><li> Total load = 874.65x 9.81 = 8580.316N <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sendhamarai.com\/scissor-lift.html\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sendhamarai.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/0202.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1694\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">&nbsp;<strong>Scissors lift calculations: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>For a scissor lift Force required to lift the load is dependent on, Angle of link with horizontal  <\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sendhamarai.com\/scissor-lift.html\">Mounting of cylinder on the links <\/a><\/li><li>Length of link. <\/li><li>Formula used Where W = Load to be lifted <\/li><li>S= a2 + L2 -2aL*cos \u03b1 <\/li><li>S = Distance between end points of cylinder. <\/li><li>L= length of link = 0.6 m <\/li><li>\u03b1 = angle of cylinder with horizontal. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Now the maximum force will act on the cylinder <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">When the\ncylinder is in shut down position i.e when the scissor links are closed .For\ncalculations we will consider \u03b1=300 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Thus substituting \u03b1=300 in eqn (1), We get F=8580.316N .
